student-itis

It really seems like college professors would do this sort of thing.Actually complaining about having to interact with the student body and take time out of their day to answer a few emails. The days of the pontificating prof. are over and the students are asking more out of their money in regards to their higher education. And I think that it is completely justified, especially since the weight and pressure put on students os so great today, why not be a proactive student and ask thee question, bug the professor. I once had a professor tell me that teach was only 25% of his job and that researching and his work was the rest of his duties. What and asshole. But this was his mindset as is the mindset of many in the abstract out-of-touch-with-reality world of academia. It is only the professors that think their assignments are important and the papers are importnat, the students just want to know what to do to pass the class. And it seems reasonable that if the studnet is willing to put in the effort to aske the question a response is required from the prof. Email is not THAT difficult, nor time consuming especially when dealing with quick responses. Academics are academics because they love the slow pace of the college atmosphere the time to think and ponder on life's biggest problems, but the students are jsut trying to finish class, go to their shitty job, pay the outrageous tuition and have a little fun in the process. Profs need to take themselves less seriously and just admit that they just might have to step off their bully pulpit and interact with the masses.
